Eight months ago, at the Medical City Children’s Hospital two conjoined babies were separated. On Wednesday, in Dallas, their hopeful release was declared to take place in August.
On Monday Medical City declared that on this week twins babies Emmett Ezell and Owen are released to a inpatient rehabilitation center.
The hospital plans a small celebration for the twin’s health and success. On Tuesday, hospital and the family published 2 new photographs of their twins nine month-old boys ahead of the celebration. Two distinct photographs show twins sitting on their bed and with their mother.
Hospital said in the past that the twins had to face 3 major hurdles; to go home, when they are breathing and eating on their own and also when recovering from their surgical injuries. It said, “This is the next step to getting the boys home with their family.”
On Monday, hospital said about the twins that they are breathing on their own via trachea breathing tube. Furthermore, both are no more being fed via an IV, but are continuously being fed by tubes in their stomachs and bellies.
Owen and Emmett Ezell’s parents will learn how to deal those tubes until or unless twins can eat on their own.
On Wednesday twins are expected to be released but the release date might change depending on the patients’ fragile condition, said the hospital.
On the Ezell Twins blog, they family has been recording their boys’ progress, since the release surgery in August 2013. A verse from Bible is written on the T-shirts that are selling on their blog. The funds will be going to the trust that is set up for Owen’s and Emmett’s direct care.
