Domino’s Pizza launched their new mouth watering, taste buds tantalizing snack to increase its presence in the developing chicken category. Its named The Specialty Chicken.
With its recent launch, the chain wants to make sure that it is a “legitimate player in the chicken business.” But it is difficult to describe what it is actually. Some people are comparing it with chicken Parmesan, while others are pointing towards the breaded bites as “chicken crust.”
Basically, it is more like a bunch of breaded chicken pieces with topping of some pizza ingredients.
Rather than a pizza crust, the sauces, cheese and other toppings are layered over twelve “bites” of breaded white breast meat chicken. Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple, Crispy Bacon and Tomato, Sweet BBQ Bacon and Classic Hot Buffalo are the different flavors offered. The chain also welcomed these expanded combinations.
Yum Brands’ KFC is also marking its guard as bread trend in chicken. It was reported by USA Today this Wednesday, that KFC will return with its famous Double Down sandwich shortly which will hold cheese and bacon between the 2 fried chicken fillets rather than a bun.
Russell Weiner, the chief marketing officer at Domino’s, describes the Specialty Chicken as “one of the most creative, innovative menu items we have ever had.” He was adding these comments for the company that offers specialties such as cheese stuffed breadsticks as well as cheese covered bacon & jalapeno peppers.
Domino’s said that Specialty Chicken is their first new item since September 2012 when they launched Handmade Pan Pizza. The first non pizza items of Domino’s were breadsticks which were offered by Michigan-based company in Ann Arbor. The TV commercials of Specialty Chicken are to be on aired from April 21.
