The French Tennis Federation said on Tuesday that the prize money of this year’s French Open will increase by 10% compared to the last year.
The total prize money will be around 25m euros. The amount that will be given to the singles champions is 1.65m euros which is 10% more as compared to the previous year.
Players who do not find success beyond the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds, will also get 20-25% more prize money as compared to the last year.
Gilbert Ysern, Director of the tournament said, “this considerable increase in the prize money for Roland Garros is in line with the four-year plan drawn up for the period 2013-2016.”
When compared with Australian Open for this year, the prize money was AUD33m and that of Wimbledon and US Open was 22.56m pounds and $33.6m respectively.
