Of the already existing 974 million accounts on Twitter, 44% have never tweeted. This was disclosed in a new report by Twopcharts, a website that gives an overview of the twitter accounts. Report states that around 30% of the existing accounts on twitter have only sent 1- 10 tweets.
The analysis also showed that only 13% of the accounts on twitter have tweeted just 100 times. Furthermore, 542.1m accounts have tweeted at least once since they have been registered.
A recent report by Wall Street Journal also disclosed that more than half of the registered accounts are active. Besides, Twopcharts cannot track the account when someone has logged into their account. It can only track when the user retweets or tweet their own message.
As per standards of twitter, a person does not need to tweet to be considered as an active user. If we take this standard in to account, then Twitter’s statement of having 241m monthly active users in the last few months of 2013 seems legit.
