On Tuesday afternoon, Miami Dolphins announced that they have decided about fifth-year’s choice on Mike Pouncey’s contract.
Pouncey, who is a center rookie, will receive a salary of USD 7.4 million in the year 2015, which is guaranteed even in case of an injury but depends heavily on his performance of course. He was a Pro Bowler last year, and is still one of the top players on the Dolphins’ offense.
However, Pouncey’s case was unique, as he was recently found involved in the team’s oppressing scandal. An investigator, Ted Wells, found Richie Incognito, Mike Pouncey and John Jerry “engaged in a pattern of harassment”, aimed at Jonathan Martin along with others.
The National Football League (NFL) has not yet reached a decision on the punishment of these players. The league however holds the right to either suspend or fine Pouncey under its personal-conduct policy. Moreover, Pouncey must also consult a mental-health professional before being permitted to play again.
