(BRAZIL) – The second stage round of 16 kicks off today. Two matches are to be played. The first game will be played between the host team Brazil and Chile at 13:00 local time.

Brazil stood first in its Group A, while Chile ranked second in its Group B. Brazil played three matches in the first stage of the FIFA World Cup. It played its first match (the opening game of the tournament) against Croatia which it won 3-1. Its second game was against Mexico, which ended in a draw 0-0. The last game it played was against Cameroon. Brazil won this game with a convincing lead 4-1. On the other hand, its opponent, Chile also played three matches in the first stage of the tournament. In the first game, it was up against Australia. Being a better side, it won its first game quite comfortably 3-1. Its next game was against the defending champion Spain. The match’s result proved to be a major upset, as Chile beat Spain 2-0. Having started their tournament extremely well with two consecutive wins, Chile was favorite for the next game too, which was against Netherlands. However, the Dutch team did not allow Chile to dominate the game, and won the match 2-0.

It played its first game against Greece and came out successful with a comprehensive 3-0 win. In the second game, it was up against Ivory Coast. After a close game, Uruguay won the match 2-1. The last game it played was against Japan. It remained on top of the game throughout, and secured an easy 4-1 win. On the other hand, Uruguay has also performed well in the three games that it played in the previous stage. Its start wasn’t a good one, as it lost its opening game against Costa Rica 1-3. However, it came back strong and won its next two games, one against England, which it won 2-1, and the last one against Italy, which it won 1-0.
