(BRAZIL) – The semi final stage of the FIFA World Cup ended on Wednesday, when the last semifinal was played between Netherlands and Argentina. Argentina won the game on penalty shoot out and qualified for the final. Earlier, Brazil suffered a defeat in its homeland against Germany in the first semifinal, and could not qualify for the final. These were the two teams which were expected to qualify for the finals, as they had been consistently performing well in the World Cup. However, Germany and Argentina surprised the football fans with their extraordinary performances.
Today, the loosing teams of the semifinals (i.e Brazil and Netherlands) will face each other for a third position in the tournament at 17:00 local time.

Though, the match does not have much importance, yet the playing teams have an opportunity to not only restore their form, but also prove that they are still one of the best.
The fans of both teams, especially those of Brazil, showed their resentment and frustration after they saw their teams loosing the all important games. So, this game also gives an opportunity to the teams, as well to the players who were not up to the mark, to satisfy their fans a bit.
Brazil played six games in the tournament, and ended up winning four. It only lost a single game against Germany in the semi final. One game against Mexico was drawn. On the other hand, Netherlands, won all of its games in the tournament, except one, which it lost to Argentina in the semifinals. Moreover, the previous stats of these two teams are very interesting. Meanwhile, FIFA has announced the World Cup 2014 the nominees of the individual player awards, which include Angel Di Maria, Mats Hummels, James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, Philipp Lahm, Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi, Arjen Robben and Neymar. However, FIFA has not included the name of USA goalkeeper, Tim Howard, in the list of the nominees of Golden Glove award winners. Howard made 16 saves in the game against Belgium, however, his team could not qualify for the next round.
