(ATLANTA) – On Tuesday, giant panda twins Mei Lun and Mei Huan celebrated their first birthday at Zoo Atlanta. The pair was born on July 15, 2013, to mother Lun Lun and father Yang Yang, and is the only pair to have survived for so long in the US. A special celebration was planned by the zoo for celebrating the birthday of the famous twin pandas. The caregivers made two ice cakes flavored with bamboo, bananas and vanilla. The cakes were shaped like the number 1.
On Saturday, the cubs had a pre-birthday celebration in which they were given a couple of hand painted boxes having some treats in them. The zoo officials invited fans to visit the zoo or else tune in to PandaCam in order to see the pandas receiving their birthday treat.
Moreover, the Zoo Atlanta also hosted a Google+Hangout on PandaCam in the honor of the pandas. The caregivers of the zoo joined the hangout and shared their memories about the birth of the twins, and their previous last year.
