On Sunday, Tiger Woods backed out from the last round of the Bridgestone Invitational due to an injury in his back, after a shot on the 2nd hole. Woods injured his back in a clumsy whip at the ball and falling on his back while attempting the lip of a bunker.
Woods said, “It happened on the second hole when I hit my second shot, I fell back into the bunker,” he added, “I just jarred it, and it’s been spasming ever since”. He played various poor shots in his round before departing on a cart with caddie Joe LaCava. LaCava told reporters that Tiger Woods back had him in pain all day.
LaCava took Woods directly to parking lot, in which the Woods looked hurt while taking off his shoes.”It’s just the whole lower back,” Woods told the reporters. “I don’t know what happened.”
He came in the last round much down the leaderboard before winding up his partial last round at three over par. However, Woods is the defending champion of Bridgestone Invitational. It is not clear if he will play the PGA Championship in Louisville, in current week, at Valhalla Golf Club.
38 years old Woods came in this week’s tournament expecting to make a comeback in this game. He rested for 2 months after receiving a surgery on his back, on March 31, for a pinched nerve . He missed the US Open and Masters earlier, making his comeback, on June 26, at the Quicken Loans National . He just played in 3 tournaments since his comeback.
On Wednesday, he told the reporters that his comeback from the surgery has challenged him more than his comeback from any of the last injuries. “There is no comparison between a knee and a back,” he added, “This thing is just way different. It’s way more debilitating than I thought.”
This week, he went to Akron, Ohio, for Firestone Country Club tournament aiming to amend in all fields of his game. He said, “Everything needs to get a little bit better”
