(NEW YORK) – On Friday, after 6 days of the of the shooting of unarmed Micheal Brown, a teen boy from Ferguson, protests and moments of silence have been held in New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago and other parts of US. Also, there has been five nights of continued violence in Ferguson, Missouri, after his brutal killing by the local Police, as he was about to pay a visit to his grandmother’s residence, but happened to be present in the center of the road, moments after a robbery at a local convenience store.
Moreover, Police said the boy had assaulted an officer, while, the witnesses say that he was unarmed and had his hands up before getting shot on last Saturday. After violence in Ferguson, state police has took charge of the security there.
On early Saturday today, Police in Ferguson have confronted a number of looters in a new outbreak of extreme street protests. Police in armored vehicles and heavy gear has confronted so far more than 100 protesters today near a mini-mart that the authorities said Michael Brown was suspected to has robbed before he was shot down by the police.
Previously, Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, was visited by many of her friends and relatives for condolences, she said, “I know they killed my son. This was wrong and it was cold-hearted, ” Her son, she continued, “doesn’t kill, steal or rob. He doesn’t do any of that.” Police already issued statement earlier this week about Brown not listed in any past criminal activities.
Thomas Jackson, Ferguson Police Chief, said, “We are hoping for calm and for people to give us a chance to conduct a thorough investigation”. The matter is has been immediately turned over to the St. Louis County Police. Ferguson sudden unrest reflects clearly the decades of racial tension growing in St. Louis area.
Meanwhile, US President, Barack Obama, called a special press conference and said the police had “no excuse” to use any kind of force against the peaceful protesters. Also, he has recognized criminal behavior and violence of police with regard to Mr. Brown’s killing. He has promised a transparent investigation by the US Department of Justice into the teenager’s death, while, the FBI has launched their own.
